We're all living on borrowed time. We know that the message boards were due to end already, so now what do we post while we wait for the end? Do we bump up our favourite topics for saving, do we engage in meaningless banter, do we dare to say things we never said before for fear of offending others, or do we say nothing at all and wait for the new boards to appear?

LOL! We all sit and wait for the shoe to drop. It's kind of an eerie feeling, no? All I know is, I don't want this grouping of people to disappear.

I know what you mean. Everyone here genuinely wants to be here and is interested in what everyone else has to say. It's been an amazing time, and I hope it doesn't end.

The Red Skies Are Coming thread mentions a few options at our disposal:

Yours truly, in connection with the Red Cross has opened up a DC Archives refugee camp in the meantime. It's linked a few times in the Red Skies thread. Come visit, feel it out, see what you think. There's also the options of Rob's board and the future Warner Bros. boards, though I agree with NI, it ain't too perty over there.

By the way, wherever we wind up, I will henceforth use the ID Gormuu! No more Dylanfan.....I am Gormuu!!!!

It's a very comfortable little camp, too--running water and everything. Well lit and dry, with plenty of well stocked bookshelves...

I think we just have to proceed as normal and see how things shake out. My feeling is that we'll wind up with several active sites having archives boards, but I couldn't guess at this point which one will predominate.

Lover of ambiguity that I am, I made the title of this topic deliberately uncertain. But if some Challs fans happen into this thread hoping to talk about their favourite team, I'd hate for them to be disappointed by the wholely other nature of the discussion. So let me put in a bit of CotU content.

From what I understand about the origins of Hypertime, Morrison and Waid had intended that the Challengers would be some kind of alternate reality hoppers.

I remember Waid said at the time (at the time of the "Kingdom" event) that Hypertime had already happened in the DCU. And I started thinking about what he could possibly have meant. Maybe in retroactive analysis, Morrison and Waid determined that the Challs had been an instance of Hypertime.

They were supposed to die in their timeline, but they didn't! So maybe they actually hopped timestreams, and ended up in another Kingdom--but in some timeline they didn't travel along they had died. This unique ability to hop timelines and survive (a la Sliders) would characterize the new Morrison and Waid Challs. We saw a bit of this in the modernday Superboy series, before its demise.

Since there's going to be a Challengers archive soon, I hope DC will tie that in with a new Challengers series (ongoing or limited)--written by Morrison or Waid (or their acolytes--Peyer or Augustyn).

And bringing this back around to the original topic, I feel like we're all about to venture off into different realities. Splitting off along different message board paths. Once we're existing in different Kingdoms will there be any way to amalgamate again?

I suggest someone invent a Rock of Eternity. The virtue of the current DCMBs is that you can travel to many realities within this multiverse. I can click easily enough from posting about Superman (in the 70s) to posting about Wonder Woman (in the 40s) to posting about Elongated Man archives. Hopefully on these potentially different message board sites, someone will provide easy links so we can hop swiftly between realities.

Should be easy to do, using the signature feature. Look at dylanfan's sig in the post above. There's a link to his boards in it. If we all get shunted off to various pocket universes (damn you, Time Trapper!), putting the addresses to the alternate universes in our sigs, for a while at least, let's everyone see where everyone else is. Eventually, a consensus will form or new communities will develop. Then the addresses in the sigs won't be required.

I just wish they'd hurry up and do it already. Rob's original guestimate was mid-June, but it was reported that Bob Greenberger thought May 1 was the target. We could be hanging for the next 6 weeks!
